Preservatives & Microbiocides Supplier

Preservation means stopping microbes such as bacteria, yeast and mold from spoiling a product or growing in a system. Organic acids and their salts, such as benzoates, sorbates and propionates, are common preservatives in food, feed and consumer products, while industrial microbiocides such as glutaraldehyde, isothiazolin, DBNPA and BCDMH control slime and bacteria in cooling water, process water and oilfield systems.

NTC supplies preservatives and microbiocides through chemical distribution and can include them in formulations through custom blending and toll manufacturing. Browse the list below or request a quote.

Grades and forms

Preservative salts come as powders, granules or solutions, and microbiocides as liquids or solids at stated active strengths. Food, feed and pharmaceutical uses need an appropriate grade and documentation, and biocides for water treatment are regulated products. Tell us the use and the grade or registration you require and we will confirm what can be supplied.

Packaging and delivery

Depending on the product and quantity, preservatives can be supplied in bags, pails, drums or totes (IBCs). Several are regulated for transport, and we confirm packaging and freight on each quote. NTC ships to customers across the United States and internationally, and lead time and freight are confirmed on each quote.

Preservatives and microbiocides FAQ

Can the same preservative be used in food and in industrial products?

Not automatically. Food use requires a suitable grade and compliance with regulations for the finished food. Ask for the grade and documentation you need.

What is the difference between a preservative and a biocide?

A preservative keeps a product from spoiling. A biocide is used to control microbes in a system such as cooling water. Many biocides are regulated and must be used as labeled.

Do you supply a biocide for my cooling tower?

Tell us the system, water conditions and what you use today. We will suggest products from our list and confirm what applies in your location.

How is pricing set?
